CV writing help that keeps your words
The CV builder has a Writing tab that helps you turn duties into results, find the right skills and match your CV to a job ad. Every suggestion is marked up next to your own text, and nothing changes until you choose to use it.

What the writing tools do
- Improve a line. Pick a bullet or your summary and choose clearer, more results-focused, shorter or longer. You see the old and new wording side by side.
- Suggest bullets. Stuck on a job? Get three to five bullet ideas for that job title. Figures you need to supply are shown as [X] so you can fill in the real ones.
- Write a summary. A two or three sentence opening built from what is already in your CV, using your real job title and, if you add one, the role you want next.
- Suggest skills. Skills that fit your experience and the job you want, each with a short reason, and a note on the ones you already list.
- Spelling and grammar. Small, exact fixes you accept one at a time. It does not rewrite your meaning.
- Match a job ad. Paste the advert to see which of its keywords your CV already covers and get suggested edits section by section.
- Translate. Make a copy of your CV in another language, for example French for a job in Canada or Europe.
- Draft a cover letter. Start a letter from your CV and the job ad, then finish it in the cover letter builder.
- Writing coach. Section-by-section prompts that tell you what a strong summary, job entry or skills list needs.
How to get a good result
The tools work best on real material. Write a rough version of each bullet first, even if it reads like a list of duties ("Responsible for customer complaints"). Then ask for a more results-focused version and replace the placeholders with what actually happened: how many customers, how much faster, what changed because of you. If you don't have a number, describe the result in words instead. A believable bullet beats an impressive one that you can't explain in an interview.
Add the job you are applying for in the Writing tab. Summaries, skills and job matching all use it, so the suggestions point at that role instead of being generic. When you apply for a different kind of job, duplicate your CV and tailor the copy, so each version stays focused.
Writing help or CV review?
They answer different questions. The CV review checks the whole CV against clear rules (length, bullets, numbers, action verbs, keywords) and gives you a score and a list of fixes. The writing tools help you make those fixes, one line or section at a time. A good routine is to run the review, fix the high-priority items with the writing tools, then run the review again. Re-checking after edits is instant and free.
Your words, your decision
Recruiters can usually tell when a CV was pasted from a chatbot: it sounds the same as everyone else's and claims things the candidate can't back up. That is why the tools here suggest rather than write for you, keep your own facts, refuse to invent figures and show every change before you accept it. Read each suggestion, keep what is true and sounds like you, and change the rest.
Frequently asked questions
Is the CV writing help free?
Yes, with a free account you get 3 uses a day. Pro gives you 30 a day. Building your CV never needs an account, and downloading the PDF only needs a free one.
Will it change my CV without asking?
No. Every suggestion appears next to your text with the changes marked. Nothing changes until you choose Use, and Undo takes it back.
Does it make up numbers or achievements?
It is told not to, and any number that was not in your text is turned into a [placeholder] like [X%] for you to fill in with the real figure, or delete. Only keep what is true.
What is sent, and is it stored?
Only the text the tool needs, with your name, email, phone number and links taken out first. Suggestions are kept for 7 days under a one-way code so the same request is not paid for twice, then deleted. They are not used to train models. See the privacy policy for details.
Can it translate my CV?
Yes. Translate makes a copy of your CV in another language and leaves the original as it is. Names, employers, schools and contact details are not sent.
