Fresher resume example for Ananya Krishnan, a B.Tech Information Technology graduate: career objective, education with CGPA and Class XII and X marks, internship, academic projects, skills, NPTEL certifications, activities, languages and declaration. Full size
Sample A4 fresher cv (graduate) in the Summit template. The person and some employers are fictional.

Why this example works

  • A one-page A4 CV, which is what most campus and off-campus recruiters expect from a fresher.
  • Degree CGPA plus Class XII and Class X results with the board, in the order recruiters check them.
  • The internship and projects come with results (a dashboard in daily use, a pilot with 300 students), not only a list of technologies.
  • Date of birth, nationality and a declaration are included because many Indian employers still ask for them, and they are easy to hide.

Section by section: how this CV is built

What each part of the example does, and how to write yours.

  1. Header and personal details

Name, phone with +91, email, city, LinkedIn and GitHub for technical roles. Add date of birth and nationality on one quiet line if the employer expects them. Leave out father’s name, religion, caste, marital status and a full postal address unless the application form asks.

From the example Date of Birth: 14/03/2004 • Nationality: Indian
  2. Career objective

A fresher objective works when it is specific: the role you want, your strongest proof and what you want to learn. Avoid "to work in a challenging environment"; every recruiter has read it thousands of times.

From the example During a four-month internship I built and shipped a Django dashboard that a logistics team still uses every day.
  3. Education with marks

Degree first, then Class XII, then Class X, each with the institution, board, year and CGPA or percentage. Many companies set a cut-off (often 60% or 6.0 CGPA through school and college), so make these numbers easy to find. Mention "no standing arrears" only if true.

From the example B.Tech, Information Technology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, CGPA 8.4 / 10
  4. Internship

Treat an internship like a job: title, company, dates and three bullets about what you built, fixed or improved. Say who used your work. If you did a short or unpaid internship, it still counts.

From the example Wrote 60 unit tests with pytest and fixed two date-handling bugs found during testing.
  5. Academic projects

Two or three projects are enough. For each: what it does, your part in the team, the tools, and a result such as users, accuracy or time saved. Interviewers for fresher roles often spend most of the interview on your final-year project, so only write what you can explain.

From the example Tested with 300 students in a one-week pilot, which cut the queue at the transport office from two days to none.
  6. Skills, certifications and activities

Keep technical skills to what you have actually used. NPTEL, Coursera or company certifications help when they match the role. One or two activities that show organisation or leadership are better than a long list of events attended.

From the example Organised a 24-hour college hackathon with 180 participants.
  7. Declaration

One sentence at the end confirming the details are true, with your name and place. It is expected for many government and PSU applications and still common with private employers. Add a date when you send it.

From the example I hereby declare that the details given above are true to the best of my knowledge and belief.

Common mistakes, and what to write instead

  • Avoid:"Seeking a challenging position in a reputed organisation to utilise my skills."

Instead:Name the role and give one proof: "Looking for a trainee software engineer role; built a dashboard used daily by a 14-person team."

  • Avoid:Listing 20 programming languages and tools, including ones you used once.

Instead:Six to ten skills you could be tested on in an interview.

  • Avoid:A three-page CV with hobbies, father’s occupation and full address.

Instead:One page. Personal details on one line, and only the ones employers in your field expect.

  • Avoid:Project titles with no explanation: "Online Shopping System".

Instead:One or two lines on what you built, your part and a result.

  • Avoid:A photo cut from a group picture.

Instead:No photo unless the employer asks. If they do, use a plain, recent passport-style photo.

Applying in Nigeria or Ghana? What changes

The structure above works across West Africa, but graduate employers there expect a few extra details. Load the example, then make these changes.

  • Open with a short profile, then education with your class of degree written in full: "B.Sc. Computer Science, Second Class Upper Division".
  • Add your NYSC status and dates, for example "NYSC: completed, March 2025 to February 2026, Lagos State". Employers often require the discharge or exemption certificate.
  • Include WAEC or NECO results only if the job asks for them; list your industrial training (SIWES) placement as experience.
  • Date of birth, state of origin and marital status are still requested by some employers. Add them only when the advert asks.
  • Two or three referees with name, position, organisation, phone and email are usually expected, often a lecturer and your SIWES or NYSC supervisor.
  • Two pages is normal. Use A4.

This is general information about common practice, not legal advice. Follow the job advert.

Frequently asked questions

What is a fresher resume?

In India, a "fresher" is a new graduate with no full-time work experience. A fresher resume leans on education, marks, internships, academic projects and certifications instead of a long work history.

Should a fresher resume be one page?

Yes, for most private-sector roles. One A4 page with your marks, internship, two or three projects and skills is enough. Some government applications have their own format; follow it.

Is a declaration needed on a fresher CV?

It is not a legal requirement, but many Indian employers, especially government bodies and PSUs, still expect it. It costs one line, so freshers usually include it. Follow the job ad.

Should I include Class X and Class XII marks?

Yes, as a fresher. Many recruiters screen on academic cut-offs from school through college. Once you have a few years of experience, you can drop school results.

How is a Nigerian graduate CV different?

It usually runs to two pages, states your degree class and NYSC status, and lists two or three referees with contact details. See the section on this page for the full list.

Is this fresher resume format free?

Yes. Load it into the CompleteCV builder, edit everything and download an A4 PDF for free. No watermark; download with a free account.
